Our Day Today!
We have started another Expository Writing Process, this time over the types of books that we enjoy reading! Today the learners did some brainstorming and created a Possibility Map of the different types of books they enjoy reading. We will choose 3 of these topics to write about as the week goes on.
We are becoming detectives this week as we work through The Mystery at the Club Sandwich. We are helping Nick Trunk, the detective, work to solve the mystery of Lola's missing marbles. We are putting on our thinking caps and solving the problem by using our best reading comprehension skills to document notes such as: clues, suspects, predictions, and plans of action.
We will be continuing our Measuring Unit this week, by measuring different distances with non-standard units. Today we measured lengths of tape using "kids' feet!" Then we compared the lengths of the two pieces of tape to discover which was longer and which was shorter, by using the data collected when measuring.
