Listen to Reading!
Writer's Workshop
Today we practiced using sentences to find the main idea in order to give a story a title.
Listen to Reading! We are really excited to have all Daily 5 activities up and running!! We have really enjoyed seeing what activities are available to us on the computers, iPads, and iPods! I am so impressed with how careful and responsible they have all been using technology in the classroom. Writer's WorkshopThis week in Writer's Workshop we have been focusing on the main idea of a story! Yesterday we picked apart different paragraph samples and stated the main idea. We also practiced using different parts of writing to figure out the main idea. We used a "hamburger" method to practice our writing, which is pictured to the left! Today we practiced using sentences to find the main idea in order to give a story a title. Guidance: Kelso's ChoiceWe had an excellent Guidance Lesson today from Mrs. Garvin, one of the Kindergarten teachers here at Pinkerton! The lesson was all about how to solve conflict and showed the learners many different examples of when they can solve conflict on their own versus when to involve an adult. They did a fantastic job paying close attention and even informed me of when they used Kelso's Choice to solve their conflicts throughout the day! Other news:This form came home today, so please make sure you take a look at it!!! This is for the field trips that we will be taking through out the school year. There is a permission slip at the bottom of the green form that needs to be returned to the school no later than October 2nd!!! Without this form, the learners will not be able to participate in our really fun field trip to the Fort Worth Zoo! This trip will be the closing point of out first IB Unit: Sharing the Planet!!
