This week is all about Goods and Services. We are learning the difference between the two and how consumers and producers also come into the way that goods and services are exchanged. We also watched a Brain Pop Jr video about the differences between goods and services and also learned a little bit about supply and demand. Throughout the week, we will be having different people that provide goods or services in our community come in and speak about their jobs. We get to listen and decide if their job is providing goods for people or if their job provides a service for people. The Fire fighters in Coppell provide a service to our community! Dr. Bedicheck is a chiropractor in Coppell. He provides a service! Mr. Shin is a restaurant owner! His family has 3 restaurants that they own and run. He provides us with a service! We are reading a great book this week and we will be doing a character study on the main character, Esperanza. We are starting our character study by making connections to Esperanza. In the story she and her Abuela are making huipiles and tapestries to sell at the market. We also recently made things to sell at our own market for our Economic Sale! We took time to sit with a partner and talk about the things we made and why we made them to sell. We are doing a small writing piece about our items and why we chose to sell these things in our Economic Sale. We had a very cool lesson about plant pollination from Google last week! We used phones to see an augmented reality version of plants that were being pollinated by different creatures.
