The visit to the Coppell Farmer's Market was a success! We had a great turn out of learners. Today we got into small groups to discuss the similarities and differences and made connections between that Farmer's Market and the one we will have at Pinkerton soon. The Economic Sale from yesterday was a success! The kids really enjoyed the experience and learned a lot! I am so thankful for the help I received getting this done, since I was unable to be there! Here are a few pictures from their experience! This week we are having a review of the parts of plants and learning how some vegetables are different parts! We watched a BrainPop Jr video to review and then labeled the parts of a flower. We read a great book called Tops and Bottoms. This is a fun story about the different edible parts of plants. We quizzed ourselves to see what we remembered from the story by cutting and pasting vegetables in either the top or bottom. Then we tried to think of some on our own! We are starting a small unit on Personal Finances. We will learn about scarcity and how sometimes to you to choose to what to buy when money is scarce. We will also learn about saving money and making withdrawals and deposits. Today we read a story about a little boy who's family saved for a vacation, but also needed to replace their broken TV. They had to decide which to do with the money they had saved. Then we edit a fun pocket activity. We wrote down things we would want to carry in our pocket and then all tried to fit in a pocket!

How We Organize OurselvesThose ShoesToday we had a book study of the book Those Shoes and made it into a jigsaw activity. We had 7 questions about the story and split up into 7 groups of 3, then we gathered into larger groups to share! Goods and ServicesWe reviewed goods and services today by creating a Goods and Services Street scene! We drew the buildings of each on a sheet of paper and then wrote about the goods that can be bought and the services that can be received. Third Grade PerformanceThird grade did a great performance of Dr. Suess Stories today!! May the Fourth be with you... |
