We have a very special Holiday visitor in 1C! This sweet elf showed up yesterday asking for a name and a place in our classroom. Our teams got together and came up with some name options, and after some voting, we named her Snowflake! We think she loves her name because she spent the whole night cutting out snowflakes to give us today when we got to school! In this unit, we have talked about beliefs, values, and perspectives. This week we are taking some time to really think about our own. We watched a great Kid President video about what kids should know about life. We wrote down some ideas of our own and ideas from the video on a circle map. We are going to be turning this into a writing activity by listing the most important thing we think that kids should know and some reasons why. Our IB Word of the week is caring. This is one of the IB Learner Profile traits that we are practicing to show. Being caring means we treat others nicely and take care of them and the environment. We made a lexicon of the word and read a great book about being caring, called The Three Questions. We are learning about symbols this week. Today we talked about Texas Symbols and made books about some of the important symbols in our state. We are learning to tell time in 1C! We have been practicing how to read an analog clock and tell time to the hour and to the half hour!

Our Day Today!Bunny Town's Laws and ConsequencesOur bunnies need rules to follow! We worked together to think about the roles and responsibilities that citizens in a community have to make laws. With laws come consequences that are applied when the law is broken. We came up with some pretty good ones together! MapsWe explored different types of maps today. We did Map Stations to explore an atlas, a paper map, globes, and Google Earth. We talked about the things we noticed about these maps and wrote them down in our IB Journals. We made a tree map of all the things we noticed about the different maps. Math Measurment StationsWe explored measurement during math time today! Our Day Today!NounsWe are learning about nouns this week. A noun is a person, place, animal, or thing! We are going to be reading a great book about making an apple pie that will show us some great noun examples. Today we watched a BrainPop Jr. video and then played a fun noun sorting game. A big shout out to Rohan for drawing his own map of Pinkerton for us to look at in class today! Math: Using Non-Standard Measuring ToolsThis week we are practicing our measuring skills. We practiced today by using cubes and another measuring tool to measure different things in the classroom. First we made a prediction and then we measured to find the actual length.
