Our Bunny Towns have come together nicely! All the bunnies have jobs, so now it is time to elect a Bunny President! The teams are working together to choose a Bunny Candidate and then they will create a campaign poster and gift, with a special slogan for their candidate. They will present these candidates to the voters and a new Bunny President will lead the towns! We learned about Perspective this week and how to see something from another point of view and also how it relates to having empathy. Empathy uses perspective to help put your self in someone else's shoes and understand what they are feeling. To gain some background knowledge in what that really looks like, we read the book Hey Little Ant and practiced looking from different perspectives. To practice seeing things from different perspectives we had a "Boy's Eye? Bug's Eye? or Bird's Eye?" View challenge! We experienced some great lessons this week about Martin Luther King Jr. We learned all about who this man was and what it was that he stood for. We listened to parts of his speech on Tuesday and then wrote our own "I Have A Dream" speech. Then we did a great perspective activity with eggs. We looked at a white egg and a brown egg and compared the differences between their shells. Then we cracked them open to see that even though they look different on the outside, they are the same on the inside. We also did a lesson called "Just or Unjust" and discussed different ideas and statements and then decided if they were just (fair) statements or if they were unjust (unfair) statements. This activity really got our brains working hard and taught us how to use perspective and empathy. We are so close to finishing out money collection to donate a goat to a family in need! Only $30 to go!! Below are a few pictures of the chores we have been doing to earn the money to be able to buy our own goat to donate! We had a wonderful opportunity to Skype with Margo from Heifer International and ask her all kinds of great questions about what it takes to donate a goat to a family like Beatrice's!
