We are still exploring historical figures this week. So far we have learned about George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, Sam Houston and Benjamin Franklin! We have been able to explore and experience fun activities to learn about these people. We explored a fun Mind Mission to see if we could build a statue that is bigger than the statue of Sam Houston in Huntsville! We took a "Fact Walk" about Benjamin Franklin and learned some really neat things about his life! Every day when we learn about a new person, we take some time to discuss their lives and talk about the impact they have had on our own lives. We add them to our Historical Figures Chart and then to our Historical Figures Timeline. If I were a Historical Figure,We are working on a writing piece this week and thinking about being historical figures ourselves. What would make us famous one day? How would we accomplish it? How can we help people? This little minds are coming up with some incredible ideas! To tie our unit in with Math, we are learning about the different US coins and money this week! We read a great book about why we should save money, called Alexander Who Used To Be Rich Last Sunday and then we filled in a bubble map of what things we would like to save money for. We explored and observed two coins today: The Penny and The Nickel!
