We are just about ready for the Farmer’s Market tomorrow! We have been working hard all week to prepare. Here’s a look at what we have been doing for it. On Monday we pulled our vegetables out of the garden. We had a great crop of potatoes this year!! We took our posters around the school and hung them up to advertise for the Farmer’s Market! We made signs that show the prices of the baskets that we will place our goods in and we made signs to show our customers what we are selling. Our flower pots have some changes this year! We used a very special glaze on them to make them even more beautiful than before! We also decided that instead of planting flowers, we are putting a packet of seeds inside the pot, so that whoever purchases the pot can enjoy planting something new! We will work together to prepare the pots for tomorrow before the Farmer's Market opens! Because we recently experienced what it was like to harvest our own crops, we spent time this afternoon learning about different types of farming around the world. We watched 5 different videos on the iPads through a Thinglink! Each video gave us new information and showed the global differences in farming. Click the picture to see the videos! We are still reviewing what we have learned in first grade. We are exploring all of the different math games we have played over the school year. This week, we started a math menu with a partner about telling time, shapes, fractions, and ordering numbers. This past weekend, Mrs. Irland was kind enough to take all of our first grade tadpoles to the creek in her neighborhood and release them into the wild! She made a really fun video of the tadpoles all swimming away!
