The time has come for the First Grade Farmer's Market here at Pinkerton! Our first grade learners have been working long and hard for this event. We planted our vegetables back in February and they have grown and grown. Next week we will be harvesting our potatoes, onions and radishes and be selling them in our very own Farmer's Market! This week we have started the advertising process by creating posters to hang around the school. On these posters we are advertising the types of veggies we will be selling! This is a lesson on how to get business to come to our market! Another important part of the Farmer's Market is harvesting! Thankfully the rain stopped just long enough for us to get outside and weed the garden! We worked hard at pulling weeds out of our garden beds so that our vegetables can have one more week of good growing time before we pull them up for washing! One other thing we will be focusing on for the Farmer's Market this week will be the jobs at the market itself! The four job opportunities that the learners will have are being a greeter, a seller, a cashier, or an expert. Each job has a different job description. The learners will choose their top two choices that they believe themselves to be qualified to do. They will have to write a resume, apply, and interview for their jobs. Their jobs will be assigned early next week! Today we discussed the expectations of each of the jobs.
