We learned to make bar graphs! Like we did with the picture graph data, we interviewed other kids in the school to gather our information. This year, 1C gets to participate in a fun experience with Real School Gardens. This program gives us more opportunity to utilize our outdoor classroom in the Pinkerton Patch! We had our first lesson yesterday about forms of energy. We explored the garden to find light energy, sound energy, and heat energy. We have started our next IB Unit! This unit is about the way our stories and the stories of others are shared. Throughout this unit, we will explore different types of stories like fairy tales and fables. We will look at all the story elements and compare the two types of stories. We will also look at how stories can be shared and how people interpret stories. We have started this unit with a story study of The Wizard of Oz. So far we have read a version of this story and listed the story elements of it. We have also discussed what a fairy tale and what a fable is and we voted for whether we think this story is a fairy tale or fable. We will be exploring settings of stories and learning the properties of soil and rocks, as well as different water sources. We started our week by exploring the three main settings of The Wizard of Oz. Dorothy visits Kansas, Oz, and The Emerald City. We explored the land of these settings together.
