Our IB word of the week this week is, Commitment. We finish the things we start and never give up. We made our lexicon together and then read the book Amazing Grace to see what commitment looks like. We are going to be creating interactive vocabulary webs with each IB Unit this year. Today we added commitment to it together and made connections between words. We learned how to Read to Someone in our Literacy Station rotations this week. We practiced our new station with a buddy! We have had some fun math time this week! We have been practicing our subitizing more by challenging our memories to remember patterns we see and drawing them ourselves. We made counting strings with 120 beads on them. We can use these to count in so many different ways! We also practiced our counting with some exciting math stations with games like Race to 120, Point and Count, and the 100s chart Tile Challenge. We learned all about different kinds of authority figures this week and we worked together to let them in a giant tree map! We also learned what the qualities of good citizens are. We made a circle map together and then split up into groups to discuss the different character traits of citizens. We wrote and drew examples on posters to show what each word means.
