Our Day Today!
We went back to our "Small Moment" bubble map that we started the other day. We took our thoughts and chose 3 to put into Stop Light Writing, to begin our stories. Tomorrow, we will take our Stop Light Writing and write a first draft to our story and illustrate!
After getting introduced to Listen to Reading yesterday, we could not wait to get our hands on the devices! We had a great time listening to our iPods, iPads and Computers!
Today we explored the world of Bird Beaks and had a class discussion about the different types of bird beaks and how they can be used. For example, some seeds are for pecking, some cracking and prying, some for scooping, and some for tearing. We read a great book all about bird beaks and then took part in a "Bird Beak Investigation!" We used many different utensils (toothpicks, chopsticks, spoons, tweezers, clothespins) to try to pick up different foods (rice, sunflower seeds, raisins, goldfish, gummy worms). We took notes and filled in a chart for whether the utensils were easy to pick the food up with or not. After the investigation, we took our notes and reflected over how birds use their beaks and our findings during the investigation.
