Animals looks like their parents. We look like our parents. Characteristics are the features we have that make us look the way we look. The reason we look like our parents is because we have inherited their characteristics from them! We looked at a great video of baby animals to see how they also resemble their parents. We checked out our own inherited characteristics by looking in mirrors and talking about which features look like which of our parents. Today we read the story Are You My Mother? We talked all about the different animals and other things in the story and the reasons why they were not the Baby Birds mother. We also talked about story elements and listed the characters and settings of r story. We are creating a word web with our vocabulary that we learn this unit. Each day we add new words and then connect them with yarn if we can explain how they are related. We will keep adding words to our web throughout the whole unit and keep making connections! Today we learned about life cycles of different animals like the chicken, frog, and fish! We studied them online by looking at a beat simulation and then we practiced ordering them ourselves. We started our handwriting lessons today! Our lesson was "Pencil Pick-Up." In this writing game, we pick the pencil up and complete as much of a task as we can in a few seconds before the teacher says pencils down. What a fun way to learn which hand is our dominant writing hand!
