We have Isopods visiting our classroom this week!! They have been so neat to observe! Today we reviewed and observed the different parts of the plant. We started by doing a pre-assessment of labeling a plant and what the plant needs. Then we went out to the Pinkerton to Patch to observe, sketched and label the different parts that we found in real life. We came inside and read the book The Tiny Seed to talk about the life cycle of the plant and discuss how the seed needs certain things to be able to grow. We worked with a partner to tell what plants can do, what they have, what they are, and what they need. We practiced finding the characters and setting of different stories today. We worked in small groups to create a chart for characters and setting and then read a big book together. We are practicing how to open our writing with really good, attention grabbing sentences! We are learning to open our writing with questions, sounds, and opinions. We started out by finding and writing the opening sentences of different books. Then we practiced writing our own about our favorite animals.
