Our Day Today!
We are learning all of the parts of a sentence today with Super Sentences! We worked together to find the different parts of sentences on the chart paper. We looked for Capital letters, lower case letters, words, and punctuation! Later, we enjoyed a fun Power Point activity where we were able to correct some sentences!
After coming to the end of Module 1, we decided it would be a good idea to have a review of Expanded Form. We learned two different ways to write numbers in expanded form. Here are the two:
- _______ hundreds_______tens________ones
- _______ + ________ + ________
We practiced how to write in Expanded Form all together today. We have the choice to bring home some practice pages to work on and if they come back to school complete, we will get 1 ticket. If all of the answers are correct, we will get 2 tickets!!
We are talking about Story Elements this week. Our main focus today was to cover the topics of characters and setting. We filled in an anchor chart as a class and then listened to the story, The Relatives Came. We practiced listening for the setting changes and then gave a list of characters from the story.
We will be exploring the world of life cycles and food chains this week. Today we introduced the topic of the life cycle and how it has 4 parts.
- Birth
- Growth and Change
- Parent
- Death
We looked at different pictures of baby animals and named what they would be come as an adult. We looked for different characteristics that were inherited from their parents, to give us hints. Then, we all looked in mirrors and created a circle map to show that we have inherited certain characteristics from our own parents.
Other Excitement Today!
Our librarian, Mrs. Freyou, came in with a fun video that gave us all a preview of the Scholastic Book Fair that is coming up! The Book Fair will be the week of September 29th - October 3rd. Since she was in the classroom, Mrs. Freyou also brought down a cart of books and showed us how we can also check out books from the classroom!
We had a great lesson during Guidance today! Ms. Kirkley came in and showed us all how to be extremely respectful and cooperative, so ask you learner how they can do that!
