Our Day Today!
This week we are talking all about how animals can be separated into different groups. We have mammals, birds, reptiles, fish, and amphibians. Today we did a fun inquiry activity by working in small groups to discover and observe what similarities animals in each group have.
Talking about all these animals got us very excited about our favorite animals. Today in reading we learned about Author's Purpose and why author's write the books that they write. There are 3 main reasons: to persuade, to inform, and to entertain! We reviewed some different books and decided the reasons they were written.
We are starting something new in Math this week and learning all about graphing! As we get further into our unit, we are starting to gather information about different animals. When you gather information, it is important to know how to organize it! We are going to learn about making and using picture graphs, bar graphs, and tally charts. We started out the lesson by reading the book 100 Animals on Parade and then made a picture graph to show how we could collect our information.
