We will be starting a research project soon! We will be researching animals and learning how to gather facts and put them on a poster, or in our car, a zoo sign! Today we picked a partner to work with and then chose our animals. We also talked about the differences between animals at the zoo and the same animals in the wild. We watched a cool zoo video and then had a group discussion about their needs. Animals in the zoo depend on humans to take care of them. After the discussion, we created double bubble maps to compare and contrast these two animals. Now that we have picked our research animals, we will be able to observe them in their zoo habitat at the Zoo Field Trip on Friday! Since we are starting a research project next week, we needed to learn about author's purpose. An author can write for many reasons, but the main three reasons we have been talking about are to persuade, inform, or entertain. We did a fun book club activity! We read books, discussed our books, and even ate popcorn together! Today we practiced identifying the different types of books. We each read a card that gave a short summary of a book and then had to decide which purpose it fit best with. We introduced our last literacy station today! Before we can start using our devices, we had to learn to use them and how to be online properly! We talked about responsibility online and then signed our Digitial Citizen Contract.
