Wow! What a week! We had a wonderful time getting settled into our classroom this week. We learned a lot and had a lot of fun! Each week we will be learning a new IB Learner Profile Trait or an IB Attitude. Our word this week was commitment. We learned and practiced this word by making sure that whatever we started, we finished. This week for writing, we did a whole writing process about how authors make up stories, even if it didn't really happen to them. We drew pictures and then added details throughout the week with both our drawing and our writing. We talked all about science is this week! We learned the different kinds of science and learned about the different scientists that study them! We even made ourselves as little scientists and wrote about why we are a scientist. Doing science also means being safe while doing so. We discussed the expectations of the science notebook and signed a science safety contract after watching a fun video about it! To close out our week, we did a really fun science experiment with The Color Wheel. We used paint to mix primary colors to make secondary colors. We spent a lot of time practicing our independent reading this week. We learned how to pick the best books for ourselves and practiced the three ways to read a book. We started using our Go Math books this week. We are learning the beginning skills of place value by practicing how to show 10 in different ways. We are also learning to represent 10 as tens and ones.
