Christmas Around the World
We had a great time visiting Germany! We looked at a real Advent Wreath, decorated gingerbread men, and even ate some gingerbread!
We learned some great things in England as well! We had a great time watching the traditional movie "A Christmas Carol," and had even more fun popping out English Crackers and getting the treats inside!
In Italy learned about the legend of La Befana and learned how to quill! We had a great time rolling paper and gluing it for our own quilling designs!
Christmas Around the World!
This week we are travelling around the world to see how other countries celebrate Christmas! We will be going to The United States, Mexico, Germany, England, Italy, and France! We will see all of their Christmas traditions and learn how they celebrate!
The United States
The US tradition is to put up a Christmas Tree and hang stockings! There are many really fun Christmas Carols to sing and fun Christmas movies to watch! In America, we call Santa, Santa Claus! We celebrated by making ornaments, coloring fun North Pole pictures, and making Magic Reindeer Food! We also read the book, Twas The Night Before Christmas.
The next countries we visit will require a passport and a plane ticket! Before each visit, we will board a "plane" and watch the safety video before take-off!
Hola mi amigos! Today we visited Mexico and learned to say "Feliz Navidad!" In Mexico, the traditional celebration is a 9 Day celebration of Las Posadas. We also learned about the legend of the poinsettia flower and why it is used as a symbol of Christmas in Mexico!
This week's Math fun!
We will be doing all sorts of fun Holiday themed Math Games this week! Today we color coded a tree by making a Christmas Tree Glyph!
What we have been up to...

Last Friday, we worked on writing weather reports and then actually gave our weather reports on camera! Click your learner's name to watch their weather report!
Our Day Today!
We closed out our How the World Works Unit today by talking about the many ways that the world changes around us. We did a review to jog our memories of all the interesting things we have learned in the last six weeks during this unit.
After our review, we talked about how all of these words are different ways that the world is constantly changing around us. We did a Frayer Model to show our understanding of 4 different ways that the world can constantly change.
After completing the way that the world is constantly changing, we all took some time to reflect about how we ourselves can change the world and make it a better place.
It's the holiday season...Time for some fun activities!!
This week, we are doing a really fun writing piece called "Santa's Stuck!" This piece is based off the book Santa's Stuck. We are writing about what we would do if Santa were to ever get stuck in our chimney and how we would help get him out!
