We started our next unit today! It is called "Where We Are In Place and Time." In this unit we will learn about our past by exploring influential people like historical figures and out families and ancestors. We will discover how they have changed our own ways of life. We started out our day by spending the morning "without electricity" in the classroom. What if we did not have electricity? What would school be like? We led this experience into what would have happened if no one had ever discovered electricity and invented light bulbs. We talked about what life was like long ago and how people lived much differently from the way that we do today. We read a great book called The Ox Cart Man to see what life was like. Then we compared life from long ago to life we know today. We tried to imagine ourselves living 100 years ago and all created something to show what life would have been like for us.
