This unit will be all about how different people influence our lives. We are starting out by exploring through some influential people, also knows as historical figures, of the past! We will be learning about 6 different important people. We started out this experience by taking a "Gallery Walk" though some pieces of history that each gave a hint to a historical figure. Benjamin Franklin, George Washington, Sam Houston, Abraham Lincoln,We have also been talking about how Historical Figures became historical figures. They are people from the past that have done things to change our ways of life. For example how Ben Franklin discovered electricity, George Washington was the first president, and Thomas Edison invented the light bulb. We worked with a partner to talk about what historical figures can do and what they can be, what they have done, and who some of them are! We started out our Historical Figure studies with George Washington. We did a great activity together to try and guess who he was from some fun facts about his life! Then we read the book George Washington's Teeth and watched a Brain Pop Jr. video about him. For each Historical Figure, we will add facts to an "Influential People" notebook and then fill in a connection bubble for them! The bubbles will be kept on our classroom door! We will also add important facts to a huge timeline in our classroom!
