We started our next IB Unit today! We will be learning all about animals and environments in this unit. To kick it off we did an inquiry activity by sorting animal cards in groups. We talked about our central idea and lines of inquiry for this unit and then wrote “I wonder...” questions. We will start out by learning about the different animal habitats and the animals that live there. We listed the different animals that we think live in these habitats. Then we went around the classroom and added animals to circle maps. We also drew water sources and scenery with the circle maps. We planted potatoes in the garden yesterday!! We also took time to observe the habitat of the garden. We made sketches and took notes about the living things we saw. We discovered that we all need to practice our addition facts for Making 10 and Doubles. We took time this morning to review these skills. These two strategies are very helpful when we are trying to add three numbers together. Some good ways to practice memorizing these facts is by drawing your own Making 10 Rainbow and making addition flash cards!
