We have been doing a lot of really fun stuff with force and motion this week! We investigated with ramps, we explored pushes and pulls on the playground, and we practiced our motion vocabulary with Marble Works! We worked in small groups to construct a marble maze and watch as our marble moved in different directions on its journey to the bottom of the maze. It was a fun challenge to build the maze well enough to make the marble keep moving. Check out our SeeSaw pages to see the videos we made ourselves! The world definitely works in mysterious ways. We have explored the world of matter, the world of force and motion, and now it's time to explore some shadows. To get into this part of our unit, we imagined what it would be Ike if our own shadows could interact with us. We are doing a fun writing piece about what we wish our shadows could do with us, if they came to life. We read the book, Bear's Shadow to get some ideas! It is always great to practice our reading comprehension skills! We worked with a partner to sequence the story we read about shadows. We used flashlights to explore shadows today! We shined the light on cups to explore the different ways a shadow can change with different angles of light. We had a blast at the Pinky Hustle last night!! I ran in to a few friends and was able to take some pictures!! Congratulations to our 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners for first grade!! BO, BRODY, AND JP!!!!
