This week we will be talking about how supply and demand can affect goods and services. Today we introduced this topic through a few fun lessons! We read the book called, Abuela's Weave, and did some "Turn & Talks" about the story while we read. The story is about a young girl and her grandmother, who weave different things to sell at the market. The little girl, Esperanza, is nervous about selling her tapestry. It turns out that people love her work and they demand for her weaving becomes so great that she sells out of her supply. We did two activities with this book. The first was a Bubble Map to describe Esperanza's personality and feelings in the story. The second was to pretend that we were Esperanza ourselves and that we needed to write a letter to a friend to tell them all about what happened in the market and we felt about it.
