Sharing the Planet
This week we will be talking about all the different ways that animals have adapted and changed to survive in their environments. An adaptation is a way that animals change to live their environment, that happens over many generations of a species existing. Some questions we used to to lead our discussions were:
- Why do giraffes have long necks?
- How do elephants use their trunks?
- How do animals defend themselves?
We did a really fun activity about the sense of smell to learn how predators like sharks and bears use their senses of smell and rely on them to survive. We explored 5 different smells and matched ourselves up into groups based on the same smells. We explored the scents of peppermint, vanilla, perfume, lemon, and vinegar.
We have covered Read to Self and Work on Writing. This week we will be practicing how to Read to Someone.
