Our Day Today
For writing today, the learners took another Beginning of the Year Assessment and did some writing after they were given a prompt. They are being such troopers and working so hard to get all of this beginning of the year work done and out of the way!
Today we jumped right into our new Math Program called Go Math! We worked together to start a unit on number sense and place value!

What is a Scientist? We had a great time talking about all of the different things that scientists do, like experiments, asking questions, writing/drawing/ trial and error, making predictions...
We started talking about what Daily 5 will look like in our classroom this year. There are 5 sections of Daily 5:
- Read to Self
- Read to Someone
- Work on Writing
- Word Work
- Listen to Reading
Today we talked all about Read to Self and how we can properly do so. Some of the things we discovered were where we sit in the classroom, the 3 different ways to read a book, and how to properly pick the books we read by using I-PICK.
We got to start our handwriting practice today. We learned all about how to write our "Frog Jump Capitals" in the workbooks. You start in the starting corner and draw a straight line down, then "frog jump" back to the starting corner to complete the letter! These letters are F, E, D, P, B, R, N, and M.
