We put the story in order together belated on the pictures we could see. We used this story to help us begin thinking about writing our own story. We will begin our stories by choosing a setting. What We Are Up To!Historical FiguresOur last two historical figures are two very similar men. We learned about these two amazing inventors that lived at the same time and were competing to invent things at the same time. We did a sort about them to see if we knew which person invented what. Thomas EdisonThomas Edison was an amazing inventor! His most notable invention was the light bulb. We really enjoyed watching a Story Bots video about him. After the video, we looked at a light bulb to see all the neat things about this incredible invention. Alexander Graham BellWe really enjoyed learning about Alexander Graham Bell. He is well known for many inventions, but the telephone is the most well known! We watched a cool Brain Pop video about him and were excited to hear more about Thomas Edison too! We had a chance to see what it would be like to be the “inventors of sound” with a Mind Mission! In groups, we worked together to make a ringtone out of materials that were given. It was a tough challenge! Our Sound MakersOur Completed Chart And TimelinesClass Photographer!Liam paid 50 tickets to be our class photographer today! Below is a slideshow of the pictures he took. What We Are Up To!We have been having a lot of fun this week! IB Word of the Week: ToleranceMATH: Fact FamiliesWe are learning about fact families this week! Today we practiced this skill with a partner by rolling a die twice to make an addition sentence. We took that sentence and made a fact family! Historical FiguresAbraham LincolnLearning about Abraham Lincoln was very fun. We were all very interested in his life. It was amazing to learn about The Emancipation Proclamation and how Lincoln ended slavery in the US. To make a little more of a connection, we got to explore with Lincoln Logs! Martin Luther King Jr.We had Monday off to celebrate the birthday of Martin Luther King Jr. We decided to skip ahead in time and learn about him! We watched a Brain Pop Jr video about his life and then read a great book. To get a bigger understand of what Martin Luther King Jr was about, we did a very meaningful activity with eggs. We compared the outside of a brown egg and a white egg and then we compared the inside of the eggs. This activity showed us that even if we look different on the outside, we are all the same on the inside. Here is a video of our experience! SUPERSTAR OF THE WEEK: TITUS!
